"A prophecy, the word
of Adonai concerning Israel. Here is the message from Adonai, who stretched
out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth and formed the spirit
inside human beings: 'I will make Jerusalem a cup that will stagger the
surrounding nations. Even Judah will be caught up in the siege against
Jerusalem.
When that day comes, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all
the peoples. All who try to lift it will hurt themselves, and all the
earth's nations will be massed against her. When that day comes,' says Adonai, 'I will strike all the horses with panic and their riders with
madness; I will keep watch over Judah, but I will strike blind all the
horses of the nations.'"
Zechariah 12:1-5
The
Bible mentions the words
Jerusalem
and Zion over
800 times, while Islam's most holy book, the
Koran,
never mentions either of these words even once.
When Muslims pray, they pray
towards Mecca, not towards Jerusalem as the Jews do. However Islam
does consider Jerusalem, the city Muslims conquered in 638 C.E. from the
Christian
Byzantine Empire, to be their third holist city.
